Hilton to open hotel and apartment complex at Doncaster Racecourse
A new Hilton hotel and apartment complex has been commissioned to open at Doncaster Racecourse.
Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones, approved the project, allowing planning to begin.
The multi-million pound project will produce a 150 room Hilton hotel along with around 80 luxury apartments.
An estimate of 600 temporary jobs will also be created during the building of the complex, with 140 permanent jobs made when the project is completed.
The new hotel complex is expected to generate over £3 million for the local economy in Doncaster, with Doncaster Council receiving £370,000 in tax and ground rent.
Plans for a new hotel and apartment complex in the area were originally pitched in 2008, but have not come to fruition until now.
Ros Jones, Mayor of Doncaster, said that the new complex with help the local economy and bring new jobs to the area.
“This planned development will bring an internationally renowned hotel brand in Hilton to Doncaster and additional upmarket homes.”
"It will deliver further new jobs and growth and complement projects at Belle Vue, the former Doncaster Bloodstock Sales site and plans for a European Tour backed golf course complex at Rossington Hall. These are exciting times for Doncaster."
Doncaster Racecourse is due to host the St Leger again this year, which will take place from September 2nd.
